Post-Presentation Meetings

On Thursday 4/10, Jill, Dan, Bill and I (sorry if i'm forgetting anyone!) will be meeting in the mac lab in Buley at 1:40 to work on tweaking the template color scheme and layout that Shayna, Sara and Katie suggested after yesterdays presentation. We'll also be working on revising the logo they liked, gathering the pictures to use on different pages (re:hooker furniture), and revising the font for the navigation buttons.

If you're unable to make it to the 4/10 meeting, some other people are meeting on Friday 4/11 as well. Same place, but i'm not sure what time. (Fill in the blank if you know)
I personally won't be able to make it to this meeting (Work 9-5:30...what a square) but I can be contacted over the phone or through e-mail during that time.

Keep an eye on the Wiki for new postings of these changes, and try your hardest to make it to the meetings. And not only make it there, but come prepared and ready to work. We need everyone's input, and everyone's help on making the best final design before we move ahead with dreamweaver. We also may need to create our pages using placeholder text until we get copy material from Shayna.

After we've gotten all of the design aspects taken care of we can create the agreed-upon template to use in dreamweaver. The template will carry over through every page on the site. I think at that point, we should be splitting up the pages (according to the site map, which also needs some minor revisions) between team members, so that people can work on individual pieces that we'll bring together later. It's important that we have these pieces done as soon as possible so we have plenty of time to work things out in Dreamweaver, which as we know too well, is a very finicky program.

Is anyone willing/able to meet up this weekend?

Sorry I can't meet in the lab with you all today. I have class at 1:50 and I mentioned yesterday this doesn't work for me! Friday I'll be in the library all day so I can work on this if you guys want to meet up. I took Saturday off from work and I have Sunday off too, so anytime this weekend I can meet if anyone's around.

Also, Mindy, if you can make sure you guys post whatever you revised today on the WIKI, so that whoever meets with me tomorrow can just pick up where you guys left off, that'd be great.

I can't meet this weekend (sat-RI with fam, sun-AAF battle of clubs). However, I'm working on the site map revision now and will be here later today 4/10, at the meeting time. Also, I planned on coming here (im in the mac lab now) tomorrow to work on other stuff with Nikki, so I'll be here then as well. Hey all I am at the Maclab now and Im about to begin working on the template. I am free this weekend except for sunday because of Battle of the Clubs. Other than that, I am pretty flexible.

Hey kids,
Our meeting time today was cut a little short by...lots of things. But during the time we did have, we reached some conclusions that everyone should take into consideration when working on their layouts.

1. Use the font GARAMOND on your tabs and as the font for your copy.
2. As far as logo's are concerned - create two. Using a font similar to garamond, and with the whole words "United Manufacturing" (Don't abbrev. to UM). For the website logo, which will be in color (re: nicole's layout for color scheme ideas), also try to incorporate some sort of simple decorative symbol or background for it. Create a copy of this logo that doesn't involve a pretty-symbol or color, so it can be easily reproduced.
3. When working with a background, try to avoid using a solid color - try to incorporate some sort of texture into it to make it more dimensional. This is easily done by using filters in photoshop.
4. When creating your layout, use the web default dimensions presented in photoshop, 1024x768 - this way, if we decide to mix and match elements from different people's layouts, we don't have to resize them or worry about pixelization.
5. When using photos from hookerfurnitre, make sure to mark them with FPO so we don't get into any trouble.
6. Use a "border" similar to what I did on my layout around the picture on the homepage. This will create a template that will carry over through every page. It's an element that Shayna said she really liked.
7. On the tabs. use a ghost effect for the entire frame. This is another effect that Shayna said she liked during our presentation, and again today. Unfortunately we can't have a ghost-effect over the navigation buttons with the photo behind it, because it'll be too time consuming to ghost every picture that's a part of the GIF and to recreate the navigation bars for every picture.

You guys said you met yesterday, and your time was cut short. Did you get any physical work done? I'm in the library now and Melissa is meeting me here in a few minutes--and I need to know what we should be doing. I was going to pick up from where you guys left off, but I'm not sure if you guys just talked about it or actually starting reworking the site. I'm assuming nothing got done yet because I don't see anything posted..? If I don't hear back from you, Mel and I are just gonna start with my old template and create all pages for the webiste. But please let me know so that we don't do anything you guys already did!

I emailed Shayna yesterday afternoon with the new template and questions and she hasn't gotten back to me. I know she said she usually checks it about five times a day and she will get back to us in a timely manner, but I was just wondering if you could send me her address again so I can double check it with the one that I sent. I know a day isn't much time, but we are sorta down the the wire and pretty much every hour counts at this point haha. I just want to check to make sure I didn't mess up by sending it to some random person instead!

I think it might be a little to late to meet at your home, but i was wondering if we are going to be using Nicoles backround and change the logo with UM not abrivated? If so, can you please send the graphics to me so I can implement into the website template! Send me the .psp, jpg, gif files so i can root all the files in a local root folder! Rooting the files are very important in order to complete a functioning website! I do need these backround, pics, etc....in order for me start! Before we send you any of the templates, they all must be completed! The actual template for UM is done, as you can see I've posted it on the WIKI, but we haven't fixed the logo yet, and I'll be working on doing that and finishing up the templates for the website pages today. I'll make sure to send you everything once its done. Tomorrow night I can meet from 4-6ish. I will most likely be in the library during that time. Also, I will be around from 11:30-6 in the MAC library to work on things. But I will definitely keep u updated on what I finish today, and you can also check the UM section of our website to see what's been completed. Hopefully I can wrap some things up today!

No, prob! I ca not make it to the mac lab tonight i hurt my ankle playing soccer, but I will be working from my home. I have seen what has been done! Just to let you know each part of website, the backround, logo etc..are going to be all seperate peices which will be integrated into the site! Just bye sending me the backround will get me started, as soon as you get a chance please send it! I will definatly meet up tomorrow! I sent you the main template which we will be using for all of our pages. It just has the new UM logo Mindy created, United Manufacturing over the top, and all of our links on the left hand side. Once we get the copy, you will be able to add all of that into dreamweaver. Also, if you want to get started on adding all the images I used in my templates, you can copy those right off of the website.

Hey Jill,

I'm not sure how you're doing with the rollovers, but did you ever finish those? Because I think we could use those for the links on our website, and I didn't see them posted on the WIKI. It'd be a cool highlight for UM and easy for people to know what to click on and what's not clickable. Ha I think that's not even a word. Whatever I'm using it anyways! So yea, just wondering. Let me know!
