COM 201 Logo Drafts

Here is a contact sheet of the logos submitted by COM 201. Shayna and her team are reviewing them. We may be asked to come up with alternatives or polish one of these...or if we have a better idea, we can propose that...but it will need to be quick.

I don't think any of these logos really portray the image United Manufacturing wants to send. I think the logo needs to be classier, have an expensive feel. In my opinion, these logos don't give that feeling.

I don't think we should use a logo from 201. The best of them is Ju Wei's, which is from about three semesters ago, and even then it dosen't give the impression of class and sophistication - although it's very well designed and professional looking.

I think the one's that have been submitted by 201 students, although they show potential, just aren't up to par with the work that I know our team is capable of delivering. It's no discredit to them - afterall this is a entry-level class for the major and when we were all in 200 / 201 our work was about the same quality.

Essentially, I think that although some of them have potential to work, I think it would be easier for us to start from scratch.

Were the 201 students given a creative brief? I think you could possibly re-assign this as a design challenge with a more specific idea of what we were looking for, even if we don't use it.

I agree with Mindy and Jill. Dr. Petroski did kind of forewarn us on starting our own logos anyways, because COM 201 may not be able to come up with something that we would use. As Ebony posted on the United Manufacturing WIKI page off of the home page, we should take a look at the Hooker Furniture website.

This is what Shayna used in class, and we should probably try to create a logo with the same kind of look/feel, based off of what it states in the creative brief.

I think we will have a lot to go over in class and hopefully we can spend some time brainstorming/putting together a logo!
